Personalised Physiotherapy Care During Your Pregnancy

Expert physiotherapy care for pelvic health, pain management, birth preparation, and safe exercise through your pregnancy.

Prenatal Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pregnancy is a time of immense change, and it’s common to notice shifts in how your body feels, especially in the pelvic area. You may experience sensations of heaviness or pressure, changes in bladder or bowel habits, for example leakage or constipation, or discomfort with movement or intimacy. Pelvic health physiotherapy can help you feel more supported and address any symptoms that may present in pregnancy.

Our physiotherapists gently assess how your pelvic floor muscles are functioning and provide guidance to help you feel more comfortable and strong throughout your pregnancy. We use a calm, respectful approach that may include breathing strategies, pelvic floor muscle training or relaxation work, manual therapy, and education to help you understand what’s happening in your body and why.

Whether it’s your first pregnancy or you’re returning for care, we’re here to support you every step of the way with empathy and expertise.

We work closely with your medical team which may include:

  • Obstetrician
  • Midwife
  • General Practitioner
  • Psychology
  • Dietician

Prenatal Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

As your body makes space for your baby, you may notice new aches or discomfort. Common areas of pain include back or pelvic girdle pain, hip pain, rib discomfort, or changes in how you sit, stand, or sleep. These sensations are common, and they can often be eased with the right support.

Our physiotherapists are here to help you stay as comfortable and mobile as possible throughout your pregnancy. We offer education, individualised exercises, hands-on treatment, taping if needed, recommendations for support-wear, and advice for easing activities that aggravate your discomfort. We also provide guidance on posture, sleep positions, rest, and movement in a way that works with your lifestyle.

Our goal is to support what matters most to you and help make everyday life feel more manageable and comfortable.

Birth Preparation

Physiotherapy can be a valuable part of preparing for birth, no matter your birth plan. These sessions focus on helping you feel more confident and connected to your body in the lead-up to labour and birth.

We explore ways to support your body during birth, including awareness of the pelvic floor muscles, perineal massage, breathing and relaxation strategies, and comfortable positioning for labour. You’ll also learn how to support recovery in the early days after birth, whether you’re planning a vaginal or caesarean birth.

Partners or support people are welcome to attend these sessions, and we’re here to answer any questions you have.

Birth skills sessions may include:

  • Perineal massage
  • Pushing strategies
  • Breathing techniques
  • Advice on labour positions
  • Pain management tips including the use of TENS
  • C-Section recovery
  • Planning for your early postnatal recovery
