Pelvic Floor Physio
At 18 Physio, our physiotherapist has post-graduate training in the management and treatment of pelvic floor physiotherapy.
Did you know that 1 in 3 people will have urinary leakage after having a baby? 1 in 2 will have prolapse (a feeling of a heaviness or a bulge vaginally)? Sexual pain is common post-partum period?
These symptoms are common but not normal… and physiotherapy can help.
Given the sensitive and personal nature of this area of physiotherapy, we understand it can be difficult to discuss. Your care is always managed with compassion, empathy and respect to ensure you always feel heard and comfortable.
We commonly treat:
- Stress urinary incontinence (leakage with activity).
- Bladder symptoms such as urgency, frequency and urge incontinence (leakage associated with an uncontrollable urge).
- Difficulties emptying your bladder; such as hesitancy, dribbling afterwards and incomplete emptying.
- Pelvic pain.
- Painful sex.
- Prolapse (feeling of a vaginal heaviness or bulge due to organ descent).
- Bowel dysfunction; such as difficulty emptying and faecal incontinence.
Following thorough assessment of your symptoms, a muscular assessment will be performed to assess your muscular function to tailor treatment, advice and a program to your individual needs.
We are patient-centred in our treatment approach, ensuring we are working towards your goals.
